Round Top Sunset Cocktail

As pretty as a Round Top sunset!

I’m one of those people who can hold their alcohol. Normally a few sips of a cocktail and my eyes are blurring and after drinking half a drink my lips are numb. But during these trying times of being quarantined I’ve developed the habit of trying new cocktails around 5:00 in the afternoon. I love anything served in a martini glass and would rather have a cocktail over a glass of wine.

So when I came up with this cocktail one afternoon it turned out to be such a pretty color I decided to call it a Round Top Sunset Cocktail.

There is nothing prettier, I think, than a Round Top, Texas sunset (or sunrise). Our son, Paul, and his wife, Brooke, are opening a brewery in Round Top sometime this fall and I can’t wait to be there for the first beer they serve. We have been going over there on and off for almost a year helping them work on a farmhouse that they had moved onto their property. At the brewery is underway in downtown Round Top. Even though I’m not a beer drinker it’s going to be fun to watch them run their business.

I’ve seen a lot of sunsets and sunrises there and one of the coolest thing is looking out the window in the morning and seeing cows within touching distance of their house.

Isn’t this the most beautiful sunset?

I also made some candied orange slices with the orange that I juiced. The strips were delicious.
