Yum, and with ice cream, DOUBLE YUM!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

We moved from The Woodlands about 8 weeks ago to Round Top, Texas. Our son, Paul, and daughter-in-law, Brooke are opening Round Top Brewing and Lollitop Sweet shop (right next door to the brewery). Eventually we will start working on house plans but right now we are helping them do whatever we can to get the two places open. <\/p>\n

So, on weekends we have been driving around to some of the wineries in the area and enjoying some local wines. The hardest part of this move has been not really seeing people’s faces. If I go into the local mercantile and talk to someone, I’m not going to remember them because I haven’t seen the face on the other side of the mask. The winery outings have been nice because the people that are there are social distancing and you can at least see some friendly faces.<\/p>\n

I’ve been experiment with so many things that they might offer in the sweet shop. The focus will be on candy with some yummy baked goods made by me. There are so many recipes  I’m experimenting with like sugar cookies shaped like donuts and covered with icing and sprinkles, cookies, bars, coffee cakes and today I was trying out my new krumkake electric baker; just haven’t decided what I might want to fill these with.<\/p>\n

This cobbler recipe is something I just tried because I had some fresh peaches and blackberries on hand and thought the two would be great with an oatmeal top crust. Maybe we will skip dinner altogether and just go straight to dessert. Oh, I almost forgot another recipe that turned out to be a winner and that will be my peach cobbler muffins. I can’t tell you how good they were; I just wished I had one now with a big glass of iced milk.<\/p>\n

NOTE: I really miss all my kitchen things that are packed away in storage. Hoping to get those out soon because just about every day I’m getting an order from Amazon for some I have in storage and just can’t wait to get them unpacked in our long term rental.<\/p>\n

Peaches, strawberries, blueberries and blackberries — OH MY!<\/p>\n

After mixing all the fruit, sprinkle with the sugars, cinnamon, cornstarch, lemon zest, juice and nutmeg.<\/p>\n

Make the topping, pour on top and bake. I made mine the day before serving and then just warmed in oven. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.<\/p>\n

Delicious.  You can use any mixture of fruit. I might not use the strawberries again because I think they juiced out more than the other fruits but was still delicious.<\/p>\n

      Preheat the oven to 425\u00b0.<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
    2. \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

      Peel and slice the peaches into a large bowl. Add in the black berries. Sprinkle the sugars, cinnamon, corn starch lemon zest and juice and nutmeg over the fruit. Stir to coat.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

    3. \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

      Pour into an ungreased 9x9 baking dish. Bake this for 10 minutes, then remove from oven.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

    4. \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
      In another bowl, mix the flour, sugars, baking powder and salt together. Cut the butter into this mixture and either using your fingers or a pastry blender blend until you have small pea size pieces. Pour in the boiling water and stir until it is combined.<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
    5. \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
      Spoon this mixture over the fruit and spreads gently to cover. I parts of my fruit showing through.<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
    6. \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
      For the final topping, mix the white sugar and cinnamon together and sprinkle on top of cobbler. Bake for around 35 minutes until topping is golden brown.<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
