And, it is starting to feel like fall here in Texas at least for a few days, but it would be great if those hot days were behind us for a few months.<\/p>\n<p>I think pumpkin and chocolate make a great pairing in anything. Years ago I did a <a href=\"http:\/\/rosemaryandthegoat.com\/2010\/10\/22\/chocolate-pumpkin-muffins\/\">pumpkin chocolate chip muffins <\/a>that is so good you will go back for seconds. And since I love making scones and I love taking baked items to craft circle this was a recipe waiting to happen and happened it did this past week I received so many compliments on this recipe I decided to post it right away because they can be made and frozen so during the holidays all you have to do is preheat your oven and pop these little pumpkins in the oven .<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>My husband loves spicy things and if I\u2019m not spicy enough ( haaaaa, that is so fun &#8211; to me anyway) he will be the first one in front of the oven if he knows I\u2019m baking something with all these fragrant ingredients.<\/p>\n<p>These little scones are drizzled with two glazes; one plain and one with maple syrup and cinnamon and nutmeg. If you decide to freeze these, freeze before baking and drizzling because you will want the glaze to melt all over as soon as they come out of the oven.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>BLAST FROM THE PAST:<\/strong><\/span> Remember this <a href=\"http:\/\/rosemaryandthegoat.com\/2009\/10\/01\/pumpkin-tomato-soup-with-creme-fraiche-parmesan-leaf-puffs\/\">Pumpkin Tomato Soup<\/a>, ya just have to try it soon. It&#8217;s delicious and belly warming.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21817\" src=\"http:\/\/rosemaryandthegoat.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_7640-e1508946518761.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_7640\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Ingredients for these wonderful chocolate studded pumpkin scones.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21818\" src=\"http:\/\/rosemaryandthegoat.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_7641-e1508946568829.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_7641\" width=\"500\" height=\"667\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Mix all the dry ingredients together. Then add the butter and using your finger tips or a pastry blender, incorporate the butter into the flour mixture until you have small pea size pieces of butter.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21820\" src=\"http:\/\/rosemaryandthegoat.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_7642-e1508946918900.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_7642\" width=\"500\" height=\"667\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Mix the pumpkin, egg and cream together. (You may need another tablespoon or two to get the dough to come together.)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21821\" src=\"http:\/\/rosemaryandthegoat.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_7644-e1508946989372.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_7644\" width=\"500\" height=\"667\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Pour the liquid ingredients into the dry ingredients, blend quickly to form a ball of dough.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21822\" src=\"http:\/\/rosemaryandthegoat.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_7645-e1508947230588.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_7645\" width=\"500\" height=\"667\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Have you have the dough mixed together add in the chocolate chips.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21823\" src=\"http:\/\/rosemaryandthegoat.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_7646-e1508947300141.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_7646\" width=\"500\" height=\"667\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Roll out dough on floured surface to 1\/2-3\/4&#8243; thickness Cut in squares then triangles or use a round cutter.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21824\" src=\"http:\/\/rosemaryandthegoat.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_7651-e1508947454487.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_7651\" width=\"500\" height=\"667\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Bake until nicely brown and then drizzle with the plain and the spice glazes.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21825\" itemprop=\"ingredients\">1\/2 tsp. salt<\/li>\t\t\t\t<li class=\"blog-yumprint-ingredient-item\" yumprintitem=\"4\" itemprop=\"ingredients\">1\/2 tsp. cinnamon<\/li>\t\t\t\t<li class=\"blog-yumprint-ingredient-item\" yumprintitem=\"5\" itemprop=\"ingredients\">1\/2 tsp. nutmeg<\/li>\t\t\t\t<li class=\"blog-yumprint-ingredient-item\" yumprintitem=\"6\" itemprop=\"ingredients\">1\/8 tsp. cloves<\/li>\t\t\t\t<li class=\"blog-yumprint-ingredient-item\" yumprintitem=\"7\" itemprop=\"ingredients\">1\/4 tsp. ground ginger<\/li>\t\t\t\t<li class=\"blog-yumprint-ingredient-item\" yumprintitem=\"8\" itemprop=\"ingredients\">6 Tbsp. butter, very cold and cut into small cubes<\/li>\t\t\t\t<li class=\"blog-yumprint-ingredient-item\" yumprintitem=\"9\" itemprop=\"ingredients\">1\/3 c. canned pumpkin puree (not pie filling)<\/li>\t\t\t\t<li class=\"blog-yumprint-ingredient-item\" yumprintitem=\"10\" itemprop=\"ingredients\">1 egg<\/li>\t\t\t\t<li class=\"blog-yumprint-ingredient-item\" yumprintitem=\"11\" itemprop=\"ingredients\">3-4 Tbsp. heavy cream or half and half<\/li>\t\t\t\t<li class=\"blog-yumprint-ingredient-item\" yumprintitem=\"12\" itemprop=\"ingredients\">3\/4 c. chocolate chips, mini or regular<\/li>\t\t\t<\/ol>\n\t\t<\/div>\t\t<div class=\"blog-yumprint-ingredient-section\" yumprintsection=\"1\">\t\t\t<div class=\"blog-yumprint-subheader\">For glaze<\/div>\t\t\t<ol class='blog-yumprint-ingredients'>\t\t\t\t<li class=\"blog-yumprint-ingredient-item\" yumprintitem=\"0\" itemprop=\"ingredients\">3 c. powdered sugar<\/li>\t\t\t\t<li class=\"blog-yumprint-ingredient-item\" yumprintitem=\"1\" itemprop=\"ingredients\">1\/2 tsp. cinnamon<\/li>\t\t\t\t<li class=\"blog-yumprint-ingredient-item\" yumprintitem=\"2\" itemprop=\"ingredients\">1\/8 tsp. nutmeg<\/li>\t\t\t\t<li class=\"blog-yumprint-ingredient-item\" yumprintitem=\"3\" itemprop=\"ingredients\">cream to thin<\/li>\t\t\t\t<li class=\"blog-yumprint-ingredient-item\" yumprintitem=\"4\" itemprop=\"ingredients\">maple syrup to thin<\/li>\t\t\t<\/ol>\n\t\t<\/div>\t\t<div class=\"blog-yumprint-method-section\" yumprintsection=\"2\">\t\t\t<div class=\"blog-yumprint-subheader\">Instructions<\/div>\t\t\t<ol class=\"blog-yumprint-methods\" itemprop=\"recipeInstructions\">\t\t\t\t<li class=\"blog-yumprint-method-item\" yumprintitem=\"0\">mix all the dry ingredients for the scones and whisk to blend.<\/li>\t\t\t\t<li class=\"blog-yumprint-method-item\" yumprintitem=\"1\">Blend the pumpkin, egg and 3 Tbsp. of the cream to blend; set aside.<\/li>\t\t\t\t<li class=\"blog-yumprint-method-item\" yumprintitem=\"2\">Put the cubes of butter in the bowl with the dry ingredients. Using your fingers or a pastry blender, incorporate the butter into the flour mixture until you have small pea sizes of butter throughout the flour.<\/li>\t\t\t\t<li class=\"blog-yumprint-method-item\" yumprintitem=\"3\">Pour in the pumpkin mixture and mix until combined. You may need another tablespoon of cream to bring it together. Stir in 3\/4 cup of chocolate chips.<\/li>\t\t\t\t<li class=\"blog-yumprint-method-item\" yumprintitem=\"4\">Put mixture on a floured cutting board and roll out to about 3\/4\" thick. Put on cookie sheet and bake at 375 for about 15 minutes or until lightly browned on top.<\/li>\t\t\t\t<li class=\"blog-yumprint-method-item\" yumprintitem=\"5\">Remove from oven and drizzle first with a plain glaze and then with the spiced glaze.<\/li>\t\t\t\t<li class=\"blog-yumprint-method-item\" yumprintitem=\"6\">To make glazes: Take 1\/2 of the powdered sugar and mix a little cream to thin and blend until smooth. Take the other 1\/2 of the powdered sugar and add the cinnamon and nutmeg and a little maple syrup to thin until smooth.
