{"id":20887,"date":"2017-04-12T05:00:11","date_gmt":"2017-04-12T12:00:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rosemaryandthegoat.com\/?p=20887"},"modified":"2019-10-18T11:33:34","modified_gmt":"2019-10-18T18:33:34","slug":"edamame-with-garlic-and-soy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rosemaryandthegoat.com\/?p=20887","title":{"rendered":"Edamame with Garlic and Soy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Garlic Edamame, yum!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>What a simple recipe I&#8217;m giving you today; so simple I&#8217;m doing it for myself tonight when my husband goes out with the guys.<\/p>\n<p>How about some edamame to go with the Asian inspired dinner you are having or for the sushi you are making (or buying). Don&#8217;t just eat salted Edamame, you have to try the recipe I was first ate at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ozumo.com\">Ozumo<\/a> restaurant in San Francisco<\/p>\n<p>So, read my &#8220;true confession &#8211; Edamame&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/rosemaryandthegoat.com\/2012\/02\/13\/tomato-and-edamame-salad\/\">here<\/a>. and fine out more about the edamame saga. The restaurant that I went to and took my own garlic and mixed with their edamame now has Edamame in Roasted Garlic Butter on their menu for $4.50 a serving. I like doing the garlic in olive oil instead of butter and then I add a splash of soy sauce.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>How about a whole menu to go with this edamame. Lets start with some <a href=\"http:\/\/rosemaryandthegoat.com\/2014\/03\/16\/shrimp-foo-yung\/\">Shrimp Foo Yung<\/a>, which my sister and I have been doing for years. My <a href=\"http:\/\/rosemaryandthegoat.com\/2012\/06\/05\/wokn-noodles\/\">Wok&#8217;n Noodles <\/a> was inspired by a sign I saw while on a double-decker bus in Paris and would go great with the Edamame for an appetizer and the Shrimp Foo Yung for a side and the Wok&#8217;n Noodles as a main dish. If you&#8217;d rather not have the noodles, how about my <a href=\"http:\/\/rosemaryandthegoat.com\/2015\/10\/26\/grilled-salmon-with-citrus-avocado-cucumber-salsa\/\">Asian Salmon with Salsa<\/a>. You could always throw in an extra appetizer and what better than my <a href=\"http:\/\/rosemaryandthegoat.com\/2016\/01\/15\/coconut-shrimp-wontons\/\">Coconut Shrimp Wontons<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m thinking one of these days I need to start another section entitled (meal plans). I love putting together dinners and wish I had a few more people around here to cook for. Sometimes I do flub up though. I remember years ago when my son had someone over (and I still remember that dinner) I cooked a lot of our favorites and all I remember about that dinner is that all the food was the same color &#8212; I&#8217;ll never forget that and hopefully learned something from that mistake.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>BLAST FROM THE PAST<\/strong><\/span>: If you are looking for an interesting decoration for some cupcakes for a springtime event, try these <a href=\"http:\/\/rosemaryandthegoat.com\/2010\/03\/22\/dried-pineapple-flowers\/\">Dried Pineapple Flowers <\/a>on top of your favorite cupcake or cake.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-20889\" src=\"http:\/\/rosemaryandthegoat.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/IMG_3160-e1490193691905.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_3160\" width=\"500\" height=\"667\"\/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-20890\" src=\"http:\/\/rosemaryandthegoat.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/IMG_3161-e1490193721531.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_3161\" width=\"500\" height=\"667\"\/><\/p>\n<p>My new little garlic guy.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-20891\" src=\"http:\/\/rosemaryandthegoat.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/IMG_3162-e1490193744508.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_3162\" width=\"500\" height=\"667\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Load the garlic and push the little robot around until you have perfectly minced garlic.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-20893\" src=\"http:\/\/rosemaryandthegoat.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/IMG_3164-e1490193799458.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_3164\" width=\"500\" height=\"667\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Add about 1 tablespoon of olive oil to a skillet, heat and then saute garlic for 2-3 minutes; do not brown the garlic.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-20892\" src=\"http:\/\/rosemaryandthegoat.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/IMG_3163-e1490193847773.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_3163\" width=\"500\" height=\"667\"\/><\/p>\n<p>I steamed my edamame frozen which took a little longer; if you thaw in advance then it takes just 4-5 minutes to steam.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-20894\" src=\"http:\/\/rosemaryandthegoat.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/IMG_3168-e1490193640164.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_3168\" width=\"500\" height=\"667\"\/><\/p>\n<p>After you steam, toss the garlic\/oil and a stash of soy sauce in a large bowl. Sprinkle generously with sea salt or Kosher salt. In a small skillet add the olive oil and heat; when heated add in the garlic and saut\u00e9 for 4-5 minutes but do not brown. Set aside.<\/li>\t\t\t\t<li class=\"blog-yumprint-method-item\" yumprintitem=\"1\">Put the edamame in a steamer basket over about 1\" of water, cover and steam for 5-6 minutes. If the edamame is frozen it will take a few minutes longer.<\/li>\t\t\t\t<li class=\"blog-yumprint-method-item\" yumprintitem=\"2\">Put the cooked edamame in a large bowl and add in the saut\u00e9ed garlic and the splash of soy sauce and toss to cover the edamame.
